What are you looking for?
People are looking for something that satisfies them not just in the moment, but that satisfies the deepest places of their soul. You may be considering if you can Find Jesus to be the one who satisfies this deep longing, but while you may be looking, Jesus has been pursuing you.
Jesus is God in the flesh and He desires a personal relationship with you because He created you (Genesis 1, Psalm 139). From man’s beginning, God has always desired to be close to us, to have a relationship with us. Before Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden (Genesis chapter 3), both he and Eve knew God on an intimate, personal level. They walked with Him in the garden and talked directly to Him. Due to the sin of man, we became separated and disconnected from God.
In order for us to be reconnected to God and have a relationship with Him, we must realize our need for Him, admit we are sinners, and in faith receive Jesus Christ as Savior. Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins in our place. That is how much He loves us (Romans 5:8).
You can receive Jesus by faith and begin a relationship with Him this very moment, right where you are, as you read these words! You can express your faith in Him by praying a prayer similar to this:
“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. But I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as the one to lead my life (Lord) and the one who has saved me (Savior) from the penalty of sin. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!”
Remember that Jesus is not as concerned about the exact words you use as He is about the attitude of your heart. He sees your faith.
